Once upon a time, people would solely read from newspapers, books and magazines: Customers would know about businesses with printed newsletters and adverts. A few decades down the line, blogs play a huge part in how we communicate today – so why blog?
The question we should answer first; what are blogs exactly? According to the Oxford Dictionary…
blog
Pronunciation: /blɒɡ/
noun
- a personal website or web page on which an individual or company records opinions, information, links to other sites, etc. on a regular basis.
So now that we’ve cleared that up, let’s look at the reasons why – as a business- you should have a blog.
1. Blogging adds personality to your business. Customers are more likely to be attracted to, and return to companies that have a voice behind them. Don’t be too personal, and try to create content that is readable, but practical. It’s a fun disguise for marketing.
2. It drives traffic to your website. If someone reads your post, they will be exposed to the rest of your website (if the blog is embedded) or at least a link to your website from an outsourced platform. (eg: WordPress, Tumblr, Blogger etc) It’s a no brainer.
3. SEO (search engine optimisation). The more content you have on your website, the better when it comes to SEO (if you do it right, that is). Use buzzwords, images and popular topics to your advantage. You’ll be surprised at how you can spin current trends to relate to your business, within reason of course.
