Topolabamba: Menu Recommendations from TPM

We had the very difficult job of sampling a few tasty treats at the friends and family launch of Topolabamba, so here are a few of our menu recommendations…

Yesterday, Glasgow’s new authentic Mexican restaurant, Topolabamba, opened its doors to the public. On Monday, we went along to the friends and family launch and got to taste a few dishes from the amazing menu. One of the things about working on the launch of a restaurant is that you are constantly hungry, so it was a nice treat to sit down and eat all of the food that we have been craving over the last few months! The whole idea of the dishes at Topolabamba, is to choose three or four each and share with friends, so you get a little taste of everything. Here are a few of our recommendations from the menu…

Gillian, Web Designer & SEO

“I really loved the pork pibil tacos and the classic queso fundido was amazing – it’s like a Mexican fondue. For dessert, I’d have to go with the chocolate-chilli ice cream. At first, you think it’s a normal chocolate flavour, until the chilli hits at the back of your throat”

Stephanie, Blogger & Social Media Assistant

“I’d never tried cactus before, so first choice was the tangy cactus and marinated chicken taquitos – amazing! ┬áThe fish tacos and king prawn tacos were incredible too – the seafood is so fresh and the prawns are massive! I would definitely recommend the pineapple margarita – ice cold, fresh, and with that classic tequila kick!”

Lizzy, Founder at Tweetiepie Media

“To be honest, I’d say anthing with the pork – everyone’s doing BBQ pulled pork nowadays, but the Mexican flavours make it that bit better. The flat iron steak with peanut mole is amazing too – would definitely recommend!”
